16 Team Sweden players were named to the World Cup of Hockey 2016
Team Sweden´s Head Coach Rikard Grönborg named 16 players to Team Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey 2016 during a press conference in New York, USA, at Wednesday March 2.
"After an equally exciting and challenging process, we are proud to present the first 16 players to represent Team Sweden in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey 2016. With the record number of Swedish impact players in the National Hockey League, we were forced to make some very difficult decisions,” said Rikard Grönborg, head coach of Team Sweden.
“We, the coaching staff, together with the advisory board (Daniel Alfredsson, Nicklas Lidström and Mats Sundin) are thrilled to start this process and are confident that these 16 players will be the foundation of a successful Swedish team. Our attention now turns to the task of completing our team by identifying seven more players, one goalie, one defenseman and five forwards before the roster deadline on June 1."
